Can I automate my existing driveway gates?

In most cases, yes. If your existing gates are structurally sound and properly hung, a motor system can be retrofitted. We check the gate weight, condition, and hinge alignment during the free site survey. Wooden gates sometimes need hinge upgrades to handle the motor load, and older wrought iron gates may need reinforcing, but these are straightforward fixes.

What happens if there is a power cut?

Every automated gate system we install includes a manual release key so you can open the gates by hand during a power failure. Many systems also include battery backup that keeps the gate running for 20 to 50 cycles after the mains goes down. Solar-powered options are also available for properties where mains connection is difficult.

Can I control my gate from my phone?

Yes. Most modern gate motors are compatible with Wi-Fi modules or smart home systems. Do I need planning permission for driveway gates?

In most cases, no. Driveway gates under 2 metres tall that open inward generally fall under permitted development. However, if your property is listed, in a conservation area, or the gate is next to a classified road, you may need approval. We advise on any planning requirements during the survey.

What warranty do you offer?

We provide a minimum 2-year warranty on the motor and automation, and 5 to 10 years on the gate structure and finish depending on the material. Premium materials like aluminium or Accoya wood carry manufacturer guarantees of up to 25 years. The warranty terms are set out in writing with your quote.
