Use a physical sample
Ask for the proposed coating colour reference, sheen and texture on the actual gate material. A screen image changes with display settings and lighting. Two finishes described as anthracite can look different beside brick, stone or render.
Place a sample outside in sun and shade. Check it beside existing window frames and doors rather than assuming that the same colour name guarantees a visual match.
Specify the complete entrance
Include gate leaves, posts, hinges, visible motor covers and the pedestrian entrance in the finish schedule. Ask which components come from different manufacturers and whether slight variations are expected.
For a wood-effect or two-tone design, inspect the joint between finishes and the rear face. Request a drawing showing the areas to receive each finish.
Compare upkeep and repair options
Ask for cleaning instructions, touch-up advice and written coating terms. Dark colour alone does not establish how much dust will show or how long the finish will last. Avoid choosing on unsourced trend or maintenance percentages.
Compare aluminium and other metal gates using the actual construction and coating specification. Bring your preferred sample when you discuss your entrance.
